Donna Burchfield

Hello, my name is Donna Burchfield and I am happy to introduce myself as your AlphaNet Coordinator.

My husband Ray and I have been married for over 40 years.  We have 2 great sons and they are both married to wonderful young ladies.  We are also blessed to have 2 awesome and creative granddaughters.  Our family is truly the light of our lives.

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve Alphas once again.  I previously served as a patient advocate for five years.  Supporting other Alphas is very rewarding to me.  I am also an Occupational Therapist and currently work with special needs students in a public-school system.  Prior to this, I worked in adult rehabilitation in an inpatient hospital.

I was frequently ill as a child and this continued into adulthood.  I used to garden, go for long walks, and attend theater, but eventually had to give up many of my favorite activities.  I tried unsuccessfully to get help from approximately seven physicians, until I was blessed to find my current physician.   She went to a conference and learned about Alpha-1.  The next time I was ill she asked me to take a simple blood test.  I agreed, and the results were MNull.  I started Aralast infusions every week.

At conferences and education days it is amazing to see people connecting, supporting, and truly caring for each other.  I want the Alphas I serve to know that no question or concern is too trivial to ask for information or help and I am here to help you.
