Support for Alphas on Augmentation Therapy
AlphaNet offers free comprehensive disease management services to individuals with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. We connect you with AlphaNet Coordinators, educational resources, and our expert Alpha-1 Medical Team so you can learn more about your condition and lead the best life possible as Alpha. Our AlphaNet Coordinators are Alphas from across the United States who have undergone specialized training in order to provide our AlphaNet subscribers with unique and individualized disease management the way only another Alpha can. Why Join AlphaNet?
AlphaNet provides education on the most up-to-date treatments, interventions, and lifestyle changes discovered from research. Our health management program is comprehensive and structured to meet the specific needs of individuals diagnosed with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. AlphaNet’s Alpha-1 Disease Management and Prevention Program, or ADMAP, was developed to support not only Alphas but also their families and health care providers. We define ADMAP as an integrated system of education, interventions, measurements, and refinements of health care delivery designed to optimize clinical and economic outcomes for individuals with Alpha-1. The goal is to prevent disease, improve the quality of life, and efficiently manage health resources for Alphas.
As part of ADMAP, AlphaNet formally tracks existing Alpha-1 education efforts in a similar manner to the quality-related tracking efforts required by health insurers and Medicare. AlphaNet’s medical team determined ten Alpha-1 Improvement Measures (AIM) that provide the best opportunity for improved Alpha health and reduced system costs. The goal of AIM is to provide ongoing education to inspire subscriber action to achieve all AIMs for the benefit of all Alpha-1-related health system participants: patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies, specialty pharmacies, and payers.
Our current AIMs are:
- Smoking and Environment
- Adherence to Prescribed Augmentation Therapy
- Pulmonary Function Testing
- Liver-Focused Care
- Osteoporosis (New for 2023)
- Exacerbation Plan in Place
- Exercise Assessment
- Pneumococcal Vaccine
- Flu Vaccine
- Advanced Directives
Our medical team is comprised of world-renowned Alpha-1 pulmonary physicians who are involved in global Alpha-1 research, and who provide the latest findings back to our subscribers. Our goal is to provide you with all the information you need to manage your health as an Alpha.
